January 2013

January where have you gone?!  We had a great month here in the Kahler house.  We got to spend lots of time together which was so much fun!!

We started our healthy life and have been on track doing great.  We are working out and eating better and not eating out as much as we were.  We bought a Blendtec blender and have been having fun creating new foods & drinks and are so excited that we can make ice cream with spinach in it and the girls love it!!  That blender is such a great way to get our girls to eat their vegetables that they are so not fans of!!

We took the girls to Disney on Ice.  It was all about Princesses that day.  We had not told the girls where we were going just that we had a surprise and they were so happy when we got there.  The show was in 3 sections, it started with Princess and the Frog then moved to Cinderella and finished with Tangled.  Throughout the show Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy kept popping up.  Tatum loved the entire thing, she was on the edge of her seat the whole time.  Camdyn did not like Princess and the Frog at all, it was too dark and scary for her, she liked Cinderella a little more and loved Tangled.  Since Disney on Ice Tangled has become the favorite in our house and we are having fun watching the movie and singing and dancing to the music.  The end of the show was so great, all of the Disney Princesses and their Princes came out to skate on the ice!!

We started riding our bikes again.  It is so great to get out and ride on the weekends.  We have gone around the neighborhood and also riden to the park for picnics with Grampa and Gramma.  We will to do 6-8 miles when we ride our bikes.  The weather is perfect right now for being outdoors and we are taking advantage of that for sure!!

Yay for Family Day!!

Tatum got a soccer net and ball for Christmas and the girls are having fun practicing shooting at the goal.  Tatum can actually do really well and can make a goal from pretty far back.  Camdyn is working on it too!!

Gooooaaaal!!

We like to make a whole bunch of pancakes on the weekends so the girls can have pancakes for breakfast before school if they want to.  Last weekend we made Pinkalicious of course!!

We had a sick day last week.  Camdyn was acting like her normal happy self then all of the sudden she threw up all over me and continued to throw up all night until finally falling asleep about 3am.  Poor thing.  So the girls and I stayed home and got better and enjoyed being together.  Thank goodness it was just a quick sickness for Cam and none of the rest of us have been sick so far!!

We are so looking forward to February!!!!

Santa Baby

Christmas this year in the Kahler house was the best.  It was nothing short of amazing!!!!  We are so lucky and so thankful for each other and for all that we have.  Santa definitely spoiled all of us and there were gifts for days!!  But we also enjoyed our family and the special time of the year!!

Kahler Christmas 2012
We baked cookies for Santa on Sunday.  I was sad because I could not find the Santa cookie recipe that we have made for the last couple of years.  So we tried a new recipe.  And let me just say it was definitely a Pinterest fail because the cookies were awful.  Thankfully we had a great time making them and they looked great once they were decorated.  No one ate them except for Santa, hope he loved them!!
Cookie Time

For Christmas Eve we had the family over for a yummy feast.  We had bruschetta, lasagna, bread, salad and of course lots of Christmas treats.  We had a wonderful relaxing dinner followed by a few presents.  The girls got to open their Christmas jammies and a movie and a book.  After we got changed into jammies the girls went out back to spread out the magic reindeer food.  Then it was inside for our new tradition of popcorn and hot cocoa while watching our new movie, Arthur Christmas.

Christmas morning was full of excitement.  The girls slept until about 7:30.  I guess they wanted to make sure to rest up for our busy day!!  When the girls were up I had Tatum holler down the stairs to make sure Santa wasn't still in the house.  She yelled down, "Santa" and in return the girls heard: "ho, ho, ho"!!!! Oh man, Tatum ran and jumped and hid so fast she didn't want him to see her.  We sent Daddy down to make sure Santa hurried up the chimney and out of the house so we could come down the stairs.  The coast was clear so down the stairs we came and Grampa and Gramma were already there.  Lucky them, they got to see Santa Clause!!

We started the morning with our stockings of course and they were filled with lots of goodies.  Then it was into the front room to see what was under the tree.  Oh man were the girls so super excited.  They were jumping for joy.  The girls opened their big gift from Santa first and they couldn't believe it was a Barbie house.  Guess Santa must of gotten their letter!!  Everyone got all they asked for and more.  Camdyn was good with her first gift which was socks and then she thought she was done, but once she figured out that she got to just keep opening her presents she was a pro!!  Tatum loved all of her gifts and said lots and lots of thank yous!!

Sister Love on Christmas

After our morning of presents and quick naps we headed over to do Christmas with the rest of the family.  There was more presents and more fun and it was a great time.  I didn't get any pictures from the rest of the day, going to have to snag pictures from other people's cameras for the photo memories!!

To end the day we headed over to Uncle Mike and Aunt Tam's for our annual family Christmas dinner, gift card exchange and Minute to Win it!!  This is usually our favorite part of Christmas.  It is just so fun to all get together; relax, be silly and have so much fun!!  The games this year were hilarious and a total blast!!  We started off easy with the gingerbread man game, then we had to blow cups across a table with a straw and finally we had to shake Christmas ornaments out of a box that was tied just above our bums.  Yeah that one was HILARIOUS!!

It was a perfect day full of family and love.  We are ready for 2013 and all the excitement it will bring!!

Disneyland

This year we spent 5 wonderful days in the Happiest Place on Earth.  Disneyland is one of our most favorite times of the year and this year was no exception.  The girls were so super excited to go to Disneyland this year, Tatum knows we go around her birthday and talks all year about when we will go, it is so great to finally get there and get started with the fun!!  The parks were only open 10-8 while we were there so it was nice to not have super long days.  Each day we bounced back and forth between parks and were out of there before the fireworks.  Thought Tatum might want to see them this year but we were wrong.  Camdyn watched them with us one night from outside the entrance and she seemed fine with them.  Maybe next year we will see how they go!!

Our first day at the park was Sunday November 25th.  The first thing that Tatum wanted to do was go to Cars Land.  She had been so incredibly excited to see Cars Land and we couldn't wait to take her.  As soon as we got in Matt, Adam and Lindsey went to get in line for fast passes to Radiator Springs.  So Grampa, Gramma and I took the girls over to Monsters Inc.  When we got to the ride they were just opening up and having a screaming contest for the screamer of the day.  Guess who won?!?  Tatum Ann screamed her best scream and won the title!!  She was so excited.  She got a certificate and with that certificate she got to go to the front of the line for that ride for the rest of the day.  We are proud of our little screamer :)

Screamer of the Day!!
Sully!!!!

After Monsters Inc we headed over to Cars Land.  We did Mater's ride first,Tatum loved it, Camdyn hated it.  Then we did Luigi's Flying tires, which is quite possibly the most boring ride ever.
Cars Land

Then it was off to the Pier where we saw Donald.  Tatum was excited, Camdyn was good until he got to close!!

Tatum and Donald Duck
Next up Toy Story Midway Mania!!  We did so many other rides in California Adventure and loved it.  While the big kids rode California Screamin, Grampa and I took the girls around the pier.  Last year when I tried to take Tatum on Jumpin Jellyfish she was just a tad too short so they gave me a card and told me to bring her back with the card when she was tall enough and she would be able to go to the front of the line.  Being the Mom that I am, of course I kept the card for a year and we brought it back and rode the ride.  She was definitely tall enough this year and we were glad we got to the front of the line as it was a pretty long one.  Tatum was a bit scared at first but loved being able to see everything!!  Then we took the girls over to ride Ariel and it was definitely a favorite of both the girls especially Camdyn.  The rest of the afternoon was so much fun riding all of the rides. We ended the day in Disneyland and ran into Sleeping Beauty!!

California Adventure

Fun!!

Tatum and Sleeping Beauty

Monday morning our girls got dressed in their Princess dresses that Aunt Becky had made for them.  Tatum as Snow White and Camdyn as Rapunzel.  They were the absolute most adorable Princesses ever!!  We started the day off with a few rides and then headed over to Pixie Hollow to see Tinkerbell and Periwinkle.  Tatum loved posing like a fairy.  Camdyn of course didn't want anything to do with them and preferred to wave from a distance.  All Tatum wanted to do that day was see Snow White.  Disney Magic must of been in the air because as soon as we got to the front of the Princess line there was a princess switch and there was Snow White!!  It was so fun hearing Tatum talk to the Princesses!!  Camdyn is not a fan of characters/Princesses so Daddy took her on the carousel 7 times in a row.  Yes he is an amazing Daddy!!  Tatum got to see Mickey while Camdyn  was snoozing.  That night Tatum got to hang out with the big kids and do a few rides and Toy Story Mania while I took Camdyn to see the Pixar Parade.  She just wanted to watch the parade and not have the characters notice her.  But she loved clapping along and recognizing who was in the parade.

Character Time!!

Tuesday was another fun day at the park.  We started the day off in Fantasy Land then headed to New Orleans Square and had a great time.  The big kids did Splash Mountain while the Grandparents took the girls down to Pooh's Corner.  We did so many rides and loved all of them.

That afternoon we had so much fun at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in California Adventure.  We had not been into this part of the park ever before and we were so surprised at how awesome it was.  There was so much to climb and rope nets to walk across.  The girls had a blast on the slides and going through caves.  Tatum even got to 'rock climb' with Grampa!!

Redwood Creek Challenge Trail

That day we took the girls to see the Disney Junior show at California Adventure.  It was The Best!!  We barely made it into the show.  The time on the program differed from the time on the building, but they let us in last minute and we are so glad.  The girls absolutely loved every second of the show and jammed out the entire time.  It was so much fun watching them enjoy it so much.  Man I love those sweet girls.  After Disney Junior, Grampa, Gramma and Papa took the girls over to see the Pixar Parade while us big kids went to ride Tower of Terror.  It was fun to go on a big kid ride and be silly.

Downtown Disney put up an ice rink to promote the new Tinkerbell movie and Tatum just could not wait to lace up her skates and give it a try.  Tatum, Nic and I got to the ice first and then Aunt Emma and Aunt Lindsey joined us later.  Let me just say that helping Tatum ice skate was quite possible the hardest thing ever.  My back was killing me by the end of the night.  We only fell once though and I put her on my lap when we fell so she didn't get hurt.  Tatum thought it was awesome and wanted to then do it every day!!  Camdyn was too young and had to watch, she was not happy about this fact and wasn't shy to let everyone know.  Can't wait until both girls are old enough and we can take Camdyn and Daddy too :)

Ready to Ice Skate

Ice Skating Fun!!

Wednesday Matt's cousin Katie was able to come spend the day with us and we are so glad we got to see her!!  We started the day with a little bit of Tea with Alice and the Mad Hatter.  Alice was sitting on the bench and Tatum went up to her so I took Cam close and she was fine.  But then the the Mad Hatter snuck up behind her and grabbed her binky and oh man did Camdyn freak out.  I have never seen Camdyn be so scared ever.  It was awful but cute at the same time!!  Then we did some shopping and then of course Buzz and the Rockets.

Then we headed to see the Aladdin show at California Adventure.  The girls loved the show and really enjoyed the music.  The only time they jumped was when the Genie originally came out.  After the show we ran into Goofy, just love Disneyland Magic!! That afternoon we went over to Toon Town and saw Minnie Mouse, her house is just so much fun.  We rode Gadgets Go Coaster with Tatum, Camdyn got to go to Donald's House and then headed to the parade.  Since we didn't sit and wait for a spot on the parade route for an hour like everyone else seemed to do, we were pretty far back watching it.  But we just put the girls up on our shoulders and they were happy and could see.  While Santa was going by at the end Tatum yelled really loud what she wanted him to bring her for Christmas.  Camdyn did too, just not quite sure what she asked for ;)

Thursday was our last day at Disney and we decided that would be the day we would celebrate Tatum's birthday.  She was so proud to walk around with her Birthday button all day.

Thursday was an amazing day, it was the first day that the girls did not have a major melt down.  Camdyn had a small one but Tatum did not cry or whine all day!!  It was great.  We started the day with Small World and then headed over to Mickey's house.  We had a great time playing with the gadgets there and then meeting Mickey!!  We rode Autopia and then so many rides in between.  Then it was time for a ride around the park on the Disneyland Railroad.

Loving Disney

Matt rocked at Buzz, getting over 1 million a couple of times!!

We ended the night with the Pixar Parade in California Adventure.  This was by far the girls most favorite thing.  They danced and jumped and high fived.  I think Tatum high fived every single character/performer in the parade and she even got to dance with several of them.  Camdyn even got into the action and wasn't scared to let the performers high five her!!

Pixar Play Parade

We are so lucky that we are able to take a fun family trip each year.  We really do love seeing how much our girls love being at Disneyland.  Even though the happiness is also accompanied by melt downs it is still amazing!!  Love love love family time at Disneyland!!
